About Me
Sankara is a part-time freelance travel writer and photographer. He also has entrepreneurial interests in the Indian Adventure Travel and Tourism market. As a main job, Sankara manages Sales & Marketing for a technology product development services company. Within the technology industry, Sankara has managed/handled various sales, marketing and business development roles.
Additionally, Sankara serves as an 'Executive Grease Monkey' at Motours - a Bangalore based motorcycle adventure company.
In June 2010, Sankara served as an official travel blogger and photographer for Tata Nano Superdrive, a pan-India road show organized by Tata Motors. In Oct 2010, he was invited by Club Mahindra Holidays to join a group of enterprising travel bloggers, photographers and writers on a trip to Sikkim.
Sankara is truly at home when he is on the road meeting new people and making acquaintances, exploring places, forests, wildlife, cuisines, cultures, languages and its history.
Sankara is an ardent motorcycling lover, wildlife researcher and enthusiast, keen bird watcher, hiker, explorer, photographer, videographer and an avid reader (His bookshelf can be found here).
Sankara treasures all the moments when his adrenalin levels soared during adventure. Though, it has to be said that some of these moments have skirted with real danger.
Sankara captures his “moments in time” with his camera kit that includes a Canon EOS 7D DSLR, a Canon EF 17-40 f4.0 L wide-angle zoom lens, a Canon EF 70-200 f2.8L IS II zoom lens, a Canon EF 100-400 f4.5-5.6L tele-photo zoom lens, a B+W 77mm MRC UV Haze Filter, a B+W 77mm MRC Circular Polarizer Filter, a Manfrotto 055xProB Tripod, a Manfrotto 498 RC2 Ball head, a Lowepro Vertex Camera Backpack and a Lowepro Flipside 200 Camera Backpack.
When he is not ‘on the road’, Sankara loves to train in the gym, go for some boxing bouts, stay on top of the latest technological trends in the market, listen to more or less all genres of music, and spend as much time with family and close friends.
Sankara holds a Bachelors' degree in Mechanical Engineering from Vellore Institute of Technology, University of Madras. He is based at Bangalore, India and his buddy on wheels is a Royal Enfield Thunderbird Twinspark 350cc motorcycle.
