Prince Hotel and Residence: Great 5 Star Hotel in the heart of KL

On my recent trip to Malaysia where I was on an invite by Tourism Malaysia, I got the opportunity to stay at the Prince Hotel and Residence, a 5 star and business friendly hotel in the Bukit Bintang area of Kuala Lumpur. I stayed here for 1 day and 1 night and the below review is based on this recent experience of mine.

Twin towers and KL Tower as seen from a room window in Prince Hotel, Kuala Lumpur
1) This hotel is located right in the commercial area and central business district of KL. Hence, all the big office complexes, the shopping malls and main tourist attractions in the city center are in close proximity. Great connectivity is an added bonus.

2) The Prince hotel is located very close to the iconic Twin towers. In fact, one can easily see the Twin Towers and the KL tower from some of the hotel rooms.

3) The hotel, in line with its 5 star status offer great quality and excellent service at decent prices. Since it is more of a business class hotel, it caters to large business groups too.

4) The hotel has a couple of in-house restaurants that offer a great spread that span from continental to Malay to Indian to Chinese. Overall, a lip smacking treat for the foodie.

5) The rooms in this hotel are medium sized, but offer all the modern amenities. They even offer wired internet.

6) If you wish for a room with the twin towers view, simply ask for one. I stayed at room no. 2707 and it had a great view of the Twin Towers and the KL tower.

7) As with most other hotels in the Bukit Bintang area, getting to the hotel from the airport requires a lot of driving . Hence, the airport express trains are the best bet. They are comfortable, fast and help avoid the crazy KL peak hour traffic.

Overall, this is an affordable luxury class business hotel in the heart of KL. It offer more than enough amenities for the price it charges along with great quality and service.

  1. The earlier you go on the first day, the better are your chances of getting the visa process completed in 2 days. However, the usual timelines in Jakarta is 3 working days. The only missing piece of information here is that you also need a sponsor letter along with other documentation for your visa extension. The format of the letter is available at http://www.expat.or.id/info/sampleextensionletter.html.

  2. It is nice to read about your travels. I'm an Indian too and i live in Thailand. I found this website fascinating.

  3. No, you do not need a sponsor letter for a tourist visa extension. I have not required this and so didn't my friends.

  4. No problem as long as you stay out of forests and dams as they come under forest and electriciy dept.

It would be best to check with local people first. Someone might always have some problems, but you can always talk it out.

  5. That is correct. There area lot of birds, but big mammal sightings are limited. it depends on luck.

  6. Impossible is nothing, but it depends on how strong your back and bum are :-) If it is big highways, then no problem. if it small and winding roads, then you will definitely have a sore butt.

  10. Shahab, you can look at Koh Rong and Sihanoukville for 6-8 days with your port of entry being Phnom Penh where you can spend a day. You should spend your most time in Koh Rong.

  12. when you first landed in Indonesia did you booked your return ticket for after 30 days or after 60 days? My other question is can I buy a throwaway ticket of Singapore just to show as onward ticket (obviously we won't use that, since I don't have sinagpore visa) as I am not sure about my next destination yet.

  15. Sujan,

No need to book in advance unless it is festival time. Look at hotels near railway station and bus station for cheapest options. It will always be expensive on the net as they will not have the cheapest hotels on their site. there is no permit required to cross each state unless you are going to arunachal pradesh, nagaland, spiti area or khardungla. these areas require inner line permits for indian citizens. But, for every day, you would need your vehicle papers, insurance, emission and driving license in case cops ask you questions.

  16. I bought a ticket 60 days after my entry into Indonesia. They generally dont check tickets, but it is good to have. Any ticket will do. If they ask you about visas, you can say that you plan to apply for it from Jakarta.

  21. How long one can stay in the particular state without any local proofs, for example: if i want to travel for 3 years,so i am interested stay for 2 months in the Goa state...is there any restrictions that traveler has to stay in a place for limited time??

    ReplyDelete
  22. If you are an Indian and hold valid Indian documents like driving license, then you can stay anywhere as long as you like. The whole country will be open to you.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Don;t have any address as such, but the town is small and there are many factories. Would recommend you go there on a week day and choose the best one that suits your interests.

  24. I am not so sure, but you can give it a try.

  25. When you get the extension, is it for an additional 30 days from the day you get your passport back, or an additional 30 days from the day your original visa expires? I'm curious because we will be in Yogya for quite some time, but only about 15 days into our original visa. We'll be in Bali when there's 8 or 9 days remaining so I was planning on doing it there, but as you and others have mentioned, doing it in Yogya seems like a better option. Plus I don't want to have to rush down to Denpasar in Bali when crossing from Java. I'd much rather spend a day or two in the West NP and hang out in some less crowded areas. Already been to Kuta and I'd prefer to stay away from that part of the island this time!

  26. What did you wear to the immigration office? I have been told you must wear formal clothing.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I wore a half sleeve, a track pant and flip flips. As far as I know, shorts are not allowed. Full length skirts or pants will do and may be a half sleeve top. Clothes are very cheap in Jogja. You should be able to buy some for emergency if needed. But, overall, the Jogja immigration office people are very nice.

  31. Inside the city is always tough, especially in torrid cities like Bangalore and Mumbai, but otherwise, you can handle it.

  36. I read another list for honeymoon destinations and all I saw was Kerala, Agra, Phuket... Sure, these are great places and India is indeed a special place. But for honeymoon, haha.... it might not be the best of choices. Your list is really neat and as said, you summed it up very nicely. Charming places with possibility to adventures or activities. Great post.

  37. What a beautifully structured list! It's very realistic, and I find it very doable indeed, unlike the ones that suggest totally exotic but rather cliche destinations. I'd like to send out a special mention to Ubud, Bali. The Alila Ubud will forever bring back the fondest of memories for me!

  38. I am glad you like this list. Hope you get to visit most of them soon :-)

  40. Sir, We are planning to ride across the Golden Quadrilateral in 8 days. There will be 3 people doing it and the rides are Bullet 500 Std. Uce, Bajaj Pulsar 220 F and RE Classic 350. Was wondering if you can give us an itinerary and an estimate of the expenses involved. Thank You.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Well, that would be diificult as I don't know what you guys like. I would recommend you pick a theme like foood, unesco sites, wildlife, cities or soemthing on those lines to build your itinerary. Regarding expenses, if you are looking for budget, I would say INR 500 to 1000 per day without including fuel.

  56. What a great recap. My husband & I spent 3 weeks traveling around Southeast Asia on our honey & had an amazing time. The best part is that we really didn't spend that much - probably on par with what someone who is spending a week in Hawaii would spend.

Check out our blog post recapping our trip:
