Snorkelling in the rich coral waters of Kavaratti

We got into the emerald waters of the Kavaratti lagoon, but only to board a boat that would take us deep into the rich coral reef waters.

The agenda was to go snorkelling and explore the rich coral reefs and the marine life in the lagoon.

Soon, the boat left the beach and headed towards deeper waters in this shallow lagoon. While we were on the boat, the Lakshadweep Tourism personnel gave basic snorkelling classes to the group. Soon, with masks, snorkels and fins, we jumped into the water.

It was phenomenal inside the water, where I was able to view a total new world. There were vibrant colours everywhere. The plants on the corals, the fishes that came in various shapes, sizes and colours, the clear waters and the excellent visibility all led to an excellent snorkelling experience.

It was only after an hour that we got ourselves out of the water and into the boat. Only when I got back into the boat did I realize the amazing sight in front of me. Crystal clear emerald waters in the foreground and the lovely stretch of silver sands and the Kavaratti island in the background.
