Hotels at Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh

Dirang is your picturesque hill station surrounded by the high mountains of the Eastern Himalayas. It is a small, quiet town situated on the highway from Assam to the Tawang region. Located at about 5,000 feet, it is blessed with great weather and is known for its unique tribes, spectacular views and the pretty valleys nearby.

If you are interested in holidaying here, then you need to keep in mind that there are not many hotel options here. The two good ones are Hotel Pemaling and Hotel Awoo Resort, both of which are situated on top of small hillocks just outside the main Dirang town. Both these properties command excellent views of the surrounding mountains and the valleys below.

During my recent trip, I stayed at the Hotel Awoo resort and found it to be average, but comfortable. Locals say that the Pemaling hotel scores slightly better, but not by much. A standard double room costs about Rs. 1,000 per night during the tourist season and the price can vary depending on demand. Food options are also limited. One needs to do prior booking for food at the resident hotels or try out the small restaurants in the Dirang market.

Other basic accommodation options are also available at the Dirang market for those seeking budget and very limited options.
