Evening Sky at Thalawakele, Sri Lanka

This was the evening sky I got to see when I was sipping some piping hot long leaf tea at St. Clair’s tea estate near Thalawakele in the central highlands of Sri Lanka. At one side of this view was the sprawling St. Clair’s tea estates and on the other end was the mighty Devon Falls.

It was right in the middle that I got treated to this brilliant evening sky where the sun was setting behind the clouds. This setting sun caused the entire cloud to glow in its sides and also sent a colour dispersion spectrum all around.

St. Clair’s tea estates and Devon Falls are on the route from Colombo to Nuwara Eliya. They are very near to the picturesque hill town of Thalawakele.

Devon Falls, Thalawakele, Sri Lanka

The Devon Falls is a spectacularly large waterfall that falls on the Colombo – Nuwara Eliya route. This 290 foot stepped waterfall is situated close to the Thalawakele town at an altitude of 1159 m above sea level.

When I was standing at the waterfall view point, it was evening time and I was looking straight into the sun, but still managed to squint my eyes and admire this beautiful waterfall. Tea estates and beautiful tropical forests dotted the surroundings. Since my camera lens was looking straight into the evening sun, the photo has come out super exposed. I somehow hope it does some justice to the stunning waterfall setting.
