Plus, they celebrate a month-long  National Cherry Blossom Festival filled with culture, music, and food. What more could you ask for?

If you are looking to emerge yourself in all different types of cultures with different types of people, DC is profound for this. There are lots of people traveling inside and outside this area. There are three major airports in the metropolitan area, always bustling with people.



Plus, with many colleges around the city, you can find young and happening neighborhoods. If you have kids that are getting ready to start that next chapter in their life, tour some of these top-notch schools. After graduating, there are thousands of network opportunities in the city. Renaissance Washington DC Dupont Circle Hotel: 4 Star Luxury Hotel in DC

Are you planning a holiday with your family to the capital city of the United States of America? Well, if you are planning such a trip, you might be interested in good hotels for your stay. On my recent visit to Washington DC, I stayed at the Marriott property called Renaissance Washington DC Dupont Circle Hotel for 4 days and 3 nights. This below hotel review based on my recent experience might help you figure out if this hotel is a good fit for your holiday.

 

1) This is a 4 star hotel that has prime location. Surrounded by other luxury hotels, it offers easy access to many restaurants, the metro (1 10 minute walk away), supermarkets, the shopping district and much more.

2) The hotel room offer facilities befitting a 4 star hotel with meeting rooms, fitness center, swimming pool, in-house restaurant, in-house bar, laundry, parking and more.

3) Surprisingly, the hotel charges for internet access and wi-fi, though after some haggling with the front desk, they offered it to me free of cost. I was very surprised that hotels in this era charge for internet connectivity.

4) The hotel rooms are fairly comfortable, though no rooms offer any view as the hotel itself is surrounded by buildings.

5) All tourist attractions of DC, the train station and the bus station are just a short drive away.

If you are a business traveler or a family on vacation and looking for a luxurious hotel in the heart of Washington DC, this Renaissance hotel would be worth a look.

The Embassy Row Hotel: DC’s Chic Business Luxury Address

Washington DC, the capital of the United States of America is a popular tourist destination with people from all around the world. They come to see the White House, the National Mall, the Lincoln memorial, the many museums and art galleries and to indulge in the food and lifestyle circuit of this beautiful city. On my recent road trip across the United States, I visited DC and during this visit, I stayed at the Embassy Row hotel near Dupont Circle. The below hotel review is based on this recent experience of mine.



1) This chic hotel enjoys great location. Located very close to the Dupont circle, it offers great proximity to fine restaurants, embassies, happenings bars and clubs, the metro and much more.

2) The interiors of the hotel are classy and swanky. Very tastefully designed, the hotel offers a bar and restaurant at the ground floor and a rooftop bar and outdoor swimming pool on the top and one that offers a great view of the city.

3) The rooms, which are in line with the theme of the hotel come with all modern amenities that come with a 3 star hotel. Even though this hotel is a 3 star business class hotel, it feels like it is a 4 star and it is this appeal that sets it apart.

4) The in-house restaurant of the hotel serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and the rooftop bar buzzes with action especially in the evening. However, the best of DC’s restaurant circuits are all located a short walk away.

5) Since this hotel is close to the metro and also centrally located, it offers easy and quick access to all the popular tourist attractions of this capital city and the train and bus station.

6) The hotel offers free wi-fi, parking facilities, laundry facilities and more.

Whether you are a business traveler, a holidaying couple or a family on vacation, you will definitely find great value in the Embassy Row hotel. It is definitely worth a look and it is an address that I would not mind staying at on my next visit to Washington DC.

How I was fooled by the White House!

My jaw dropped open at the very first look! The White House was one of my main reasons for visiting Washington DC and here I stood in front of it completely dejected. I felt like I was let down. I felt like I had been fooled. It was one of those moments that shook very part of my cranial region. Even my American friend felt the same way. Both of us had explored all of the monuments in the National Mall area before reaching the White House. The idea was to save the best for the last.



But when we stood in front of the White House, we wore a completely shocked look. The image of the White House in my head is based on the many Hollywood movies that I had seen like, Die Hard, Independence Day, 2012, White House Down, Olympus has fallen, Superman II, Mars Attacks and others. Now, the irony is that from all these movies I had somehow created an image of the White House with a white dome in my head. Apparently, that building is the Capitol Building (the seat of all power) and not the White House. But, in my brain, that was the image of the White House. So when I was actually standing in front of the white house and ended up doing some Google search to find my folly, the irony hit me. And it hit me like a brick. It hit me so hard that I shared this irony with a lot of my friends and they seemed to empathize with me.  Are you one of them? Does your image of the White House have a big white dome? Hello from Washington DC

11 days ago, I was at Los Angeles. Today, I am typing this post out from a hotel room in the Dupont Circle area of Washington DC. In between, I traveled nearly all of USA’s south and boy did I enjoy myself. If you had been following my social channels or the hashtags of #DiscoverAmerica and #RoadTripUSA over the last 11 days, you would have seen the amount of fun I had at Los Angeles, San Antonio, Austin, New Orleans, Baltimore and now at Washington DC.

Each place had such a unique character. Their people, landscapes, food, traditions and more kept me enthralled and my camera clicking crazily. Traveling by train through California, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Virginia, Georgia and South Carolina and seeing the different kinds of landscapes was an experience that I will always treasure. From deserts to mighty lakes, from green forests to swamps, from the mighty Mississippi bridge to the wide open ranches of Texas, I guess I saw enough to give me a high on every day of my train journey.

I am full of stories from this road trip that I want to share with you and which I plan to in due course all with pictures and videos. This is the National Monument located in the National Mall area of Washington DC that is home to prominent buildings, monuments and memorials like the White House, Capitol Building, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial and many more. It is popular with locals and tourists alike. For locals, it is a great outdoor space for a relaxed walk and for outdoor physical activities while the tourists love this place for its history, importance and of course for taking selfies!!
