Chandipur Beach – Witness a Unique Phenomenon!!
Have you ever been to a beach where the water recedes by as much as 5 kilometres during low tide and retraces the entire way back during high tide? Well, such beaches are extremely rare the world over. But, if you happen to be in India, you can find such a beach at Chandipur, on India’s east coast of Orissa.
Located about 15 kms from Balasore, the Chandipur Beach is a quiet and calm beach destination. There is some tourist infrastructure available, but not lots. Hence, one does not find huge crowds here.
I was here at this beach about 10 days back. The entire Bay of Bengal sea looked rough and muddy due to the monsoon rains. I was here only for a brief while and I was able to witness the peak movement of high tide. Hope to come here in leisure and walk the entire sand stretch into the sea along with the retreating and ascending tides.
