Holiday Inn – A Fantastic Budget Bamboo Resort in Havelock Island

There are lots of us who believe in spending less money on the hotel accommodation and more in the actual travel and exploration. However, we do expect a minimum of a clean and hygienic loo (toilet) and bug-free beds and sheets. As a thumb rule, it is difficult to find such places, but one such place that I found during my stay at Havelock Island is Holiday Inn.

Holiday Inn is located next to Beach No. 3 and is about 3-4 kilometres from the main boat jetty. In fact, like all other resorts on this beach, one can walk from the resort straight into the beach. It is a simple setup with bamboo huts and mud flooring. There is a common restaurant and kitchen which also acts as a place of gathering.

The rooms here come really cheap. A room with two beds, but with no attached toilet or bath costs 200 rupees per night. A room with two beds with attached toilet and bath and a small sit out comes for 400 rupees per night.

The most expensive option here that costs 1000 rupees per night is a family room that can easily accommodate four people. It has a attached toilet and bath and a large sit out space and verandah. All these rooms come with basic lighting and with one fan. None of these rooms are air-conditioned and there are no bunker beds or dormitories here.

All these rooms, baths and toilets are really maintained well. You can even get a discount on these rates if you plan to stay here for a while. The kitchen and mainly the chef here is fabulous. He specializes in most of the popular cuisines here. You can even get fish from your fishing trip and get it cooked the way you like.

Most of the resort area is under the shade of large coconut and other tropical trees. Hence, it is considerably cooler than outside. Chairs and other benches for sunbathing have also been made available on the beach stretch.

Swimming, water games and snorkelling are possible here. Though, one has to watch out for the rocks here. One can contact the reception here for any or all kinds of help and guidance.

The best part about Holiday Inn though are the people who run this place. During my stay here, I found them to be extremely kind and accommodating. They will ensure that your experience and stay here is pleasurable.
