The Red Soil of Kodagu

Kodagu or Coorg as it is popularly known is very famous for its tropical forests. The rich soil and the heavy rainfall that Coorg receives make this place a blanket of greenery.

This rich reddish soil has other uses too. In fact, the Kodavas (native people of Coorg) use this red soil for most of their construction work.

The staircase and the tiled floor above are testaments to that fact. If you look closer at a Coorgi house, then you will figure more such uses.
