Nallathambi Resort – A decent place to stay at Kolli Hills, Tamil Nadu, India

Kolli Hills is not your ‘well known’ hill station near Salem in Tamil Nadu. But, it is one of those places where you will find the hill station atmosphere sans the crowd and the noise. I was here at Kolli Hills last weekend and had not made any hotel bookings in advance. I had left my bookings to fate. Luckily for me, while we were climbing up the 70 hairpin bends, I met some locals, who suggested Nallathambi Resorts as a decent budget option.

Nallathambi Resorts is located between Sollakadu and Semmadu. The village of Semmadu is just over one kilometre from the resort. The road to Arapaleeshwar temple, Akasha Gangai Falls and Masila Falls are just a short walk away. Nallathambi resort is a place which caters to people with various budgets. The resort is set amidst dense green trees, pepper climbers and colourful flowering plants. A 4 bedded room cost us 990 rupees and a 2 bedded room cost us 660 rupees. They have deluxe and cottage options, though I am not aware of the rates. The best part about this resort is that all the rooms inside are very clean. They even have a restaurant that cooks simple but tasty food. They cook non-veg food too, though one has to tell them in advance. For other types of food, one can try out the small hotels at Semmadu.

The other accommodation options in and around Kolli Hills as far as I know are Wild Orchid Camp and PA Holiday Inn. I have stayed at PA Holiday Inn before and was not happy with my stay there, in spite of this place being dubbed a star resort.
