Freedom Beach: A small, quiet beach on the south coast of Koh Tao

If you are in Koh Tao and would like to find a quiet beach which you can drive into, Freedom Beach stands high in the list. It is a quiet and private beach with no buildings apart from one wooden restaurant to the side. The beach itself has white sand and is fairly shaded with Pemphis acidula trees, so it is a great place to relax with your favorite book or to sun bathe.

It is a scenic place and the water is often crystal clear, so a wonderful spot for swimming and snorkeling. There is a shallow coral reef not too far out and you can see Hin Taa Toh standing out on the cape. Although it is a private beach owned by the Freedom Beach resort, they have opened it to the public. Rules here are simple: No food and drinks on the beach, no access at night and no fishing.

If you are visiting Freedom Beach, do make sure that you do not miss the most stunning view point on Koh Tao that is situated near by. This view point is called the John-Suwan view point and provides views of the Chalok Baan Kao and the Thian Og bays from a mountain spot.
